Grain growth in thin film under strong temperature gradients

چکیده

Abstract Grain growth in thin films has attracted lots of attention due to the numerous applications polycrystalline films, on one hand, and modified properties changes microstructure caused by thermal effects, other hand. While phenomenon grain is well understood general, effects e.g. temperature gradients leave questions open still today. In present study, we investigate influence strong films. To that aim, a three-dimensional Potts model algorithm employed, where annealing depends position within sample leading spatial heterogeneities boundary network. As consequence different mobilities, drag effect occurs network evolution serious consequences for microstructures evolving during growth.

Process Optimization of Deposition Conditions for Low Temperature Thin Film Insulators used in Thin Film Transistors Displays

Deposition process for thin insulator used in polysilicon gate dielectric of thin film transistors are optimized. Silane and N2O plasma are used to form SiO2 layers at temperatures below 150 ºC. The deposition conditions as well as system operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, gas flow ratios, total flow rate and plasma power are also studied and their effects are discussed.  The p...

The effect of grain size distributions on low-temperature creep in a thin film

Thin fi lms with microcrystalline and nanocrystalline grains are used in MEMS and thin fi lms for electronics. These systems have mechanical properties that depend on the microstructure. Grain size is frequently reported only as mean values or bounds. It has been demonstrated, however, that a mean grain size value is insuffi cient to describe the microstructure of these materials and the result...

Grain boundaries in CdTe thin film solar cells: a review

The current state of knowledge on the impact of grain boundaries in CdTe solar cells is reviewed with emphasis being placed on working cell structures. The role of the chemical composition of grain boundaries as well as growth processes are discussed, along with characterisation techniques such as electron beam induced current and cathodoluminescence, which are capable of extracting information...

Fluctuations and Thin Film Growth

Two-dimensional mound coarsening is studied using a continuum model in which the effects of deposition noise have been included but in which coalescence due to mass transfer is assumed to be negligible as expected at low temperature. In agreement with scaling arguments for the case of fluctuation-dominated mound coarsening, we find n = β = 1/3, where n is the mound coarsening exponent and β is ...

Low-temperature thin-film deposition and crystallization.

Crystalline oxide films are important components in a wide array of electronic and optical devices, and their study and manufacture involve major aspects of current science and technology. A plethora of methods, such as sputtering, chemical vapor deposition, pulsed laser deposition, and sol-gel, are commonly used to deposit these films, and many new techniques are being developed (1). In each o...
